This was no easy game for the Dutch as it required a special piece of tactics from boss Louis Van Gaal to win on penalties.

The game was one that Costa Rica were kept in it by their keeper Keylor Navas. Holland were frustrated throughout the game as their were goal line clearances and scrambles as well as the woodwork being hit both bar and post also some sitters. This game really had everything a part from a red card and goals.

The Netherlands were favourites going into the game but were stopped by a very tidy looking defensive Costa Rica side who kept most chances out.
It was to go to penalties but a surprise to everyone as one minute before the final whistle of extra time and Louis Van Gaal took off his keeper to replace him with "Penalty specialist" Tim Krul.

This proved genius as he saved two penalties and saved the penalty to win them a place in the semi finals.

It was a genius move from Van Gaal as he showed again he is not afraid to make big decisions. Holland now go onto face Argentina in the semi finals but for Costa Rica they are going home with the title of ultimate underdog as they weren't expected to be this good and are a truly good team!
