Manchester United defender Phil Jones will be sidelined for around 3 weeks with a hamstring problem.

Louis Van Gaal confirmed today that he has 9 injuries with Jones getting injured on international duty earlier in the week.

Van Gaal said "Phil has a torn hamstring,"

It is an injury blow with the defender being named Manchester United player of the month earlier in the day.

Although we do still have new signing Marcos Rojo liable and available to make his debut. Tyler Blackett, Johnny Evans and Chris Smalling are also other options.

He also added "He is maybe out for three weeks or a month."

Since Jones joined in 2011 for £16.5m from Blackburn he had been a reliable back up to Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.

However now they have left in a changing of the guard the 22 year old has been chosen by Van Gaal to fill the void in the heart of the defence.

I think it is a huge blow but can be a blessing in disguise with youth maybe having a chance to display what it is made of.
