Arturo Vidal-Juventus

A transfer saga which dominated most of the window was Arturo Vidals move to Manchester United but unfortunately it didn't not materialise.

Rumours had it that bids were flying in for the player and that Javier Hernandez or another unnamed player was part of the deal.

Vidal himself kept quiet on the situation saying and admitting that his future was also open to any option.

The Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri took a mildly different approach by going out guns blazing shouting from the roof tops that Vidal was to stay in Italy.

Like myself no one believed his words as this was something even he could not stop. The coach also admitted it was up to Vidal not the club if he wanted to leave which projected more false hope upon fans.

In a desperate bid United had made to sign the Chilean with reports surfacing that Manchester United had to pay €40-53m for the player.

In the coming days of the window however it was then reported that Man United were just £5m off Juventus' valuation and then his emotional reaction after being subbed off in the clubs last game before the window closed.

This gave fans a small glimmer of hope that he could be heading to Old Trafford. As we have all found out now Juventus won their battle and retained the services of the player.

This is no indication that Manchester United will test the water again in January as he is not a reported target on the winter hit list.
